I heart the 98118
In February 2012, my husband and I moved to south Seattle to live and work here, and our two cats came along for the ride. We love our new home in the city! The Rainier Valley is always interesting, and I'm discovering more of it all the time.

Something you should know about this part of Seattle: it's the most ethnically diverse zip code in the US, according to the last US census. There is a sizeable immigrant population, and there are about 80 languages spoken in the area. With all this ethnic and cultural diversity, you can imagine how rich the community is as far as representation and opportunity to explore and learn. I hope to use this blog to document my findings.

9/13/13 Seattle Center Fountain, the Space Needle, dinner at the Hi-Life, and Cupcake Royale for dessert.

Too cute! Definitely not in the 98118, but it’s still fantastic. :)

Walked up to Columbia City from Brighton and passed through Hillman City on the way. I love the little touches of art throughout Seattle.

Rice paddle selection in Viet Wah

I walked here carrying an umbrella. Outside of hot season in Mumbai, this is the only time I’ve used an umbrella for the sun. I rather like it. I’m not absolutely sweaty, just mildly warmer than I would like to be.

Also, it’s refrigerated in the store, so I might be wandering these aisles for a little while longer than necessary before I trudge back home. ;)
